Apollo (Greek Apollon) was the son of Zeus and Leto and twin brother to Artemis. The most famous of Apollo’s offspring were the enchanting semi-divine singer Orpheus and Asklepios, god of healing. His birthplace was the sunny Greek island of Delos. Apollo was the god of music (principally the lyre, and he directed the choir of the Muses) and also of prophecy, poetry and dance.
